KUALA LUMPUR: Biduanita Negara Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza returned to the big stage tonight, a week after her successful Konsert Bumantara, to headline Cuckootopia Music Festival at Stadium Merdeka.
The five-hour concert, which began at 7pm, featured 14 established Malaysian artistes and South Korean actor Lee Junho, alongside Taiwanese singer Trevor Kuo, to mark the 11th anniversary of household appliances brand Cuckoo.
Siti performed her hits Kesuma and Menamakanmu Cinta, and joined Firdhaus Farmizi for a Mandarin duet, Be Like Water.
Other performers included Phei Yong, Jaclyn Victor, Faizal Tahir, Ella, Mimifly, Alpha, 3P, Jeryl Lee, Umairah, Odda, Emily Chua and Janice Yoong, as well as 15 contestants from 8TV's reality show Youthopia.
More than 30,000 guests attended the concert, dubbed the #SAMASAMA Party after Cuckoo's tagline. It was co-hosted by Kamal Adli, Fiza Frizzy and Owen Yap.
The event also marked the first time Siti shared the stage with Lee, her fellow Cuckoo global ambassador.
"This is a most magical night for me in Malaysia. I'm truly honoured to be part of this amazing concert," Lee said.
"Best of all, I am sharing the big stage with my fellow Cuckoo brand ambassador Siti Nurhaliza, who is a super singer and a wonderful person."
Siti said she would remember the evening for a long time.
"I'm star-struck by Junho, as he's a real gentleman who is down to earth and friendly. I hope we can meet up more often in future," she said.
She added that both ambassadors shared a love of quality household products, good music and events that brought them closer to fans.
Cuckoo International Malaysia chief executive officer KC Hoe said the concert reflected the brand's mission to improve customers' quality of life through wellness and entertainment.
The Youthopia contestants were divided into three teams according to their talents: vocalists Kai Zheng, Sha Yu, Xiao Yu, Sheary and Shine; dancers Lukas, Esther, Zing Ee and Xue Qin; and cheerleaders A Bao, Zi Qi, Safiya, Yu Wen, Ferny and Sherin.
