Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Indonesian government is encouraging quality investment by strengthening downstream industries and expediting integrated licensing services to deliver tangible benefits to national economic growth.
"We continue to encourage this investment to grow into a quality investment, of course, and also to have a positive impact on every job creation," the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Roeslani, said in a statement received here on Tuesday.
The strategic step is a direct follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions during a limited meeting held with several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet.
Roeslani said the government's commitment is yielding positive results, as reflected in the sharp rise in the downstream sector's share of investment in the third quarter of 2026.
"Looking at the trend, usually in 2024, the downstream contribution was still only 26 percent, but in the third quarter of this year, it has reached 35 percent," he explained.

The government also seeks to strengthen Indonesia's role in global supply chains through investment. It will continue developing strategic nickel and electric vehicle battery industries while balancing production capacity with technological advancement.
Roeslani added efforts to reform investment procedures are being accelerated through a licensing system involving 28 ministries and related agencies.
The system reform has resulted in a positive mechanism allowing the Ministry of Investment to approve permits if technical agencies fail to complete the process within the deadline.
To date, the ministry has issued approximately 328 investment permits through the mechanism to overcome the bureaucratic red tape in other ministries, he said.
The streamlined licensing process also aims to shorten the time required to obtain limited stay permits (KITAS) for foreign workers from months to just five working days.
"What investors seek is certainty; they do not like surprises. That is what we are trying to achieve by reducing uncertainty, including in licensing," Roeslani remarked.
