Troy Aikman and Joe Buck shared the booth for Week 5's "Monday Night Football" matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams earlier this week.
And while nothing appeared unusual during the ESPN broadcast, the game was reportedly preceded by an argument between the two sports media personalities.
Buck reportedly reached a new six-year contract extension with ESPN last month, keeping him onboard as the voice of "Monday Night Football" for years to come. This deal reportedly caused tension with Aikman, who has not yet received a formal extension offer.
Buck "broke the ice" on the unspoken tension before Monday night's broadcast, according to a report from sports media insider Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports. Buck and Aikman then reportedly got into an argument that eventually de-escalated.
Buck and Aikman are the longest-tenured broadcasting duo in NFL history. Before moving over to ESPN in 2022, they spent 20 seasons as broadcasting partners with Fox.
