October the 18th, 2026 – A new catamaran line will begin sailing to Pučišća and Postira starts as of the 1st of November, claiming it will reach Split in 70 minutes.
After a months-long procedure and administrative wrangling, the new state high-speed line Pučišća – Postira – Omiš – Split is expected to begin regular service on Sunday, November the 1st 2026. Morski reports that this significantly changes the everyday life of numerous islanders for whom a trip to Split on the mainland previously meant travelling by road via Supetar and then by ferry to the mainland.
The new line number 9605 will be operated by the catamaran Tropic, owned by Krilo Fast Ferries. The vessel was built in 2022 and can carry 332 passengers. This is a year-round state line, so it is not just a “summer line”, but a concrete benefit for the residents of the island of Brač.
The sailing schedule is still being finalised; it is known that the catamaran would depart daily from Pučišća at 06:15, stop in Postira and then continue across the channel to the mainland to reach the Port of Split. The journey would take about one hour and ten minutes. The return departure from Split is planned for 16:15, while Omiš, a little further south along the coastline, would be included in the sailing on Saturdays and Sundays.
Despite the great satisfaction felt as a result of this in the island communities of Pučišća and Postira, the question of including Povlja in the new catamaran connection remains unresolved. Several models were considered and were on the table, specifically seasonal stops and a smaller number of weekly departures during winter, just enough for the islanders. Support was given by the mayor of Selca Ivan Marjanović, and even by people in the County and at state level, but Povlja were left “empty-handed”, i.e. they were not included in the new state line, which after numerous announcements is quite disappointmenting.
