Michael Carrick singled out Youri Tielemans for praise following Sunday’s stalemate at Elland Road.
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw with their arch-rivals Leeds United, leaving them 13th-placed by the end of the weekend.

Weighing in on his side’s performance post-match, Carrick said of the summer signing: “I’ve been really impressed with Youri. He’s exactly what we thought and hoped for, bringing him into the group.
“I think his experience, his presence, [and] his personality [are beneficial]. Youri’s definitely one of those where he’ll do anything you ask him for the benefit of the team.
“He’s got a huge amount of experience, and he was right there today again at the front of it, leading the team.
“We’ve got some really good experienced players, and he’s definitely added to that.”
Tielemans registered his first Premier League goal contribution for United during the cash when he assisted Bryan Mbeumo for their 35th-minute opener.

In the 84 minutes he was on the field, the Belgium captain created the joint-most chances (three) of any player, recorded a 77 per cent passing accuracy, made 10 final-third passes and four line-breaking passes.
He dispatched two accurate crosses and two accurate long balls, as well as doing his bit defensively by making three clearances, two recoveries, one tackle and one interception, as per FotMob.
Tielemans has started every game across all competitions since making the switch from Aston Villa in a £35 million move in July.
However, recent reports have suggested that the midfielders INEOS brought in over the summer were not their first-choice targets, as the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes all ranked higher than Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba.
Still, so long as they can prove their worth as the campaign progresses, United won’t need to be ruing the fact they missed out on others.
