(ANSA) - ROMA, 12 OTT - On the occasion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Italian Embassy in Singapore organized the event “Everything Flows: Science and Art Explore the Concept of Flow,” which brought together researchers and artists to explore movement and transformation from different perspectives. This was an opportunity to continue fostering exchanges between Italy and Singapore in the fields of science, technology, and culture, strengthening the ties between their respective scientific and creative communities.
In his opening remarks, Italian Ambassador Dante Brandi emphasized the value of dialogue between science and creativity for understanding natural phenomena and the dynamics that characterize the world around us. The theme of flow was explored in depth through presentations by Gianmarco Mengaldo, an associate professor at the National University of Singapore, who illustrated the applications of fluid dynamics, ranging from aerodynamics to weather and climate forecasting; Voon Hui Lai, an associate at Nanyang Technological University, who presented the use of fiber-optic technologies in the study of geological and environmental processes; and artist John Leong, who explored the relationships between the body, materials, and the environment through his artistic research. The talk was moderated by Nicola Bianchi, Scientific Attaché at the embassy.
The initiative also drew attention to scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Singapore, which on October 7 led to the launch of the Call for Joint Research Projects for the period 2027–2029, as part of the Second Executive Program for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the two countries, with the aim of consolidating existing collaborations and promoting new joint research projects.
