Forget conventional loafers: the shoe of autumn is here, and it’s as chic as it is soft.
JW Anderson, the London-based label founded by one of the most successful (and busiest) designers of the moment (and Dior creative director) Jonathan Anderson, has collaborated with footwear and accessories brand Ugg on a soon-to-go viral collection of boots and loafers featuring a reinterpretation of the signature JW Anderson loafer into classic Ugg styles.
Ugg is rooted in the feeling of confidence and comfort that exists within the rituals of everyday life, while JW Anderson has a long-standing interest in taking familiar things somewhere else. Anderson has always been fashion-forward and boundary-pushing, but it’s his accessories that really become cult favourites. His Loewe bags were regularly the It bag of the season, but he’s perhaps best-known for his loafers, and in particular an oversized chain loafer from the 2020 catwalks, which became the style that launched a hundred dupes. GQ dubbed it the ‘greatest WFH shoe ever’ for being a chic, comfortable alternative to slippers.
And if you thought those were the ultimate WFH shoe, wait until you meet his newest style, which has been reimagined as an Ugg Classic Boot and an Ugg Tasman just in time for cosy season.

Designer Jonathan Anderson explains: “Ugg boots are instantly recognizable, and I was interested in seeing something so familiar through the lens of JW Anderson. For me, collaboration is about experimentation, bringing two distinct points of view together and seeing where that leads. We’ve explored the loafer extensively at JW Anderson, not only as footwear but also through their details applied to bags and ready-to-wear. I wanted to see how that language could translate into Ugg.”
The unisex collaboration with Ugg includes two silhouettes in three autumnal shades, a rusty orange, a forest green and classic chestnut. The collaboration has all of the design details of the original chunky JW Anderson loafers but with the soft, plush slipper-like details that Uggs are known for.
The rusty orange looks great with denim and a bright knit, while the chestnut style works with tailoring, and the dark green shoes and boots look good with mini skirts and structured jackets with a checked shirt tied at the waist to add an extra element of casualness.
