West Virginia games are fun.
They might not be great defensive slugfests, but there are always lots of points, the Rich Rodriguez offense is amazing, and good luck trying to keep up the pace if you don’t have the offensive chops. At 4-3, it’s a good stepping-stone season for the Mountaineers, but the team could use a great road win.
TCU games are fun, but in a different way. The 3-3 Horned Frogs will need to battle over the second half of the season to get bowl-eligible, and after shutting down Baylor 17-6, beating West Virginia would be a strong statement win.

Why West Virginia Will Win
Can TCU score?
The offense was changed around to be in more control and rely on the defense, but the Horned Frogs have yet to score more than 17 points in the four games against Power Four teams.
There’s no TCU running game, quarterback Jaden Craig is getting pasted behind the leaky offensive line, and that’s not the problem.
At the moment, nothing is slowing down QB Michael Hawkins and the Mountaineer attack that’s eighth in the nation overall, fifth in rushing, and second in yards per completion.
Why TCU Will Win
Can West Virginia stop anyone?
No, TCU doesn’t open it up with a wild thrill ride of an attack, but it probably doesn’t need to. The defense is the best in the Big 12, the run defense is holding teams to under three yards per carry, and the offensive side just needs to score when it’s getting its chances.
The Mountaineer defense hasn’t been even close. Everyone in the Big 12 is hitting better than 70% of their throws for well over 300 yards. The run defense allowed 220 rushing yards or more against everyone but Arizona, who was too busy throwing, and TCU does have the talent to do the same if it wants to.
West Virginia vs TCU Prediction, Betting Lines
TCU was able to hold the Mountaineers down in a 23-17 win last year, but this is a different West Virginia offense.
The Mountaineers will force TCU to open it up a bit, but it won’t be a wild firefight. TCU will have to play ball, though – it will have to score. It’ll do it just enough to get by.
TCU 34, West Virginia 24
