A man has been taken to hospital following a firearms incident in Christchurch, police say.
Senior Sergeant Christopher Wakelin said the incident took place in Marshland Rd, in the suburb of Shirley, about 3pm on Monday.
"While police are conducting initial inquiries into the incident, we do not believe there is any threat to public safety at this stage," Wakelin said.
St John said the man has been seriously injured.
