Oppo Find X10 in Digit Test Labs: A lot to like at first glance

The appeal of a top-tier flagship phone is easy to understand, but does spending more always mean you need to? Hear me out. Oppo has launched two flagship phones. On one side, there’s the big and premium Find X10 Pro Max, which is a fantastic device through and through. And then, there’s my personal pick of the two: the relatively compact and still very premium Oppo Find X10. When you see these phones side by side, you may ask yourself a question: manufacturers have spent years reserving their best cameras, displays, and battery technology for their ultra-premium devices, but does that leave standard flagships with a few compromises to justify the price difference? I feel the Oppo Find X10 is challenging that approach.

The Oppo Find X10 comes with a high-resolution 200MP triple camera system, a large 8,000mAh battery, and a gorgeous ProXDR AMOLED display with remarkably slim bezels. Quite honestly, this is a phone that takes its flagship ambitions pretty seriously. As I already mentioned, it also has a relatively compact footprint for a device packing this much hardware, which might make it appealing to people who want a premium smartphone without carrying a massive handset.

I have been spending some time with the Oppo Find X10 in the Digit Test Labs, and there are already a lot of things that stand out. More importantly, how well every spec and feature comes together in everyday use, and whether the standard Find X10 has enough going for it to stand on its own, let’s try to answer it.

Oppo Find X10: A familiar design with a practical advantage

The first thing I noticed about the Oppo Find X10 is how much of the front is occupied by the display. The bezels are extremely slim, giving the phone a clean, almost uninterrupted screen. The overall design is fairly restrained. Oppo has opted for a premium-looking finish, a metal frame and a glass back, with a prominent camera module on the rear. There is nothing particularly radical about the design language, but the proportions make the phone look well put together.

What I appreciate more is the size of the Oppo Find X10. The 6.59-inch display provides plenty of room for watching videos, reading articles, and browsing social media without making the phone feel as unwieldy as some larger flagship devices. Along with the good looks, the phone also carries IP66, 68, and 69 protection against dust and water. This adds some reassurance for everyday use.

Of course, a premium design is only part of the equation. The finish, grip, and weight will determine how comfortable the phone feels over longer periods, and those are aspects I will be examining more closely during testing.

Oppo Find X10: The display looks delightful

The Oppo Find X10 features a 6.59-inch ProXDR AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,768 x 1,272 pixels. It supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, with a higher 144Hz refresh rate available in certain games. On paper, this is every bit a very strong combination you would expect from a high-end flagship device. Once again, the near-symmetrical bezels are a big highlight. They give the screen a more immersive appearance without requiring Oppo to make the phone considerably larger.

Brightness is another important factor. A screen can look impressive indoors but become difficult to read under harsh sunlight. I will be looking at its outdoor visibility, colour accuracy and HDR performance in Digit Test Labs before drawing any firm conclusions about its display quality.

For now, the hardware suggests that Oppo has definitely paid attention to the fundamentals.

The 200MP camera system

Considering this is an Oppo device from the Find X series, the camera hardware is arguably the most interesting part of the phone. On the rear, the Find X10 combines a 200MP primary camera with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering 2.8x optical zoom. There is also a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

That is an ambitious setup for a phone that does not carry a Pro or Ultra suffix. More importantly, the combination gives users a choice of focal lengths instead of relying entirely on the primary camera and digital cropping. Naturally, the telephoto camera is particularly worth watching. High-resolution sensors can preserve plenty of detail when cropping into images, but megapixel counts alone do not guarantee good photographs. Sensor size, optics, stabilisation and image processing all play a part in determining the final result.

I am also interested in how consistently the three rear cameras reproduce colours. Switching between the primary and ultra-wide cameras should not result in noticeably different colour tones, particularly when photographing landscapes or buildings. The telephoto camera will need to deliver usable detail at its native zoom level and maintain reasonable image quality as lighting conditions deteriorate.

Low-light photography, skin tones and portrait edge detection will also need closer examination. These are areas where aggressive processing can sometimes make images look sharper or more vibrant at the expense of natural detail.

The Find X10’s camera specifications certainly give it a very strong starting point. Our full assessment will depend on how the images hold up in controlled testing and real-world shooting conditions.

Performance and battery: Built for the long haul

The Oppo Find X10 pairs a flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9600M processor with fast 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. My review unit has 256GB of storage, while you can also opt for a 512GB storage option. The phone runs Android 17 with ColorOS 17, which brings plenty of customisation options and additional features. I’ll be looking at how well the software holds up during everyday use, particularly when it comes to sustained performance and managing heat.

The other big talking point is the 8,000mAh battery. That’s a lot of capacity for a flagship smartphone, and it could come in handy given how camera-centric the Find X10 is. If you’re buying a phone with this kind of camera hardware, chances are you’ll be taking plenty of photos and videos. And since shooting with the camera can drain the battery rather quickly, having a larger battery should come in handy. The phone also supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Of course, the real test is how long the battery lasts in everyday use and how quickly it charges. Guess I’ll find that out soon.

Oppo Find X10 first impressions: A promising start

The Oppo Find X10 has made a solid first impression on me. The slim-bezel ProXDR display, high-resolution 200MP camera setup, and large 8,000mAh battery give it plenty going for it, even without a Pro or Ultra badge. I also like that Oppo hasn’t gone overboard with the size, making it look like a phone that is comfortable to use every day. Also, did I mention how lovely this colour looks? I have the Glacier Blue colour of the phone, and it looks absolutely beautiful with how muted and nice the blue looks, with a glossy glass finish on the camera island and a matte finish on the rest of the rear panel.

At the end of the day, there’s still plenty to test. Price will also play a big part in determining how compelling the Oppo Find X10 is. Starting at Rs 1,39,999 for the 256GB variant and going up to Rs 1,69,999 for the 512GB option, it’s firmly in premium flagship territory. With component prices rising globally, pricing a phone like this competitively is becoming increasingly challenging. The Find X10 will need to justify that premium with a camera experience, battery life, and overall performance that live up to its flagship ambitions.

For now, the Oppo Find X10 looks like it has all the right ingredients for a well-rounded flagship smartphone. I’ll be putting it through its paces in Digit Test Labs to see how much of that promise translates into real-world performance. Stay tuned for our full review.
