The European Union announced Thursday that it had postponed a summit with Gulf states scheduled to take place in Riyadh on October 24, amid continued escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement.
The EU said a new date for the summit would be announced in due course, while stressing that its partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) remained highly important.
The GCC comprises Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
The postponement comes as tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis continue, adding to regional uncertainty surrounding the conflict in Yemen.
