Kits launched as SSU gear up for I-League 3 debut

IMPHAL, Oct 24: Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei, officially unveiled their new kits today as the team prepares to make its debut in the upcoming I-League 3 season.
The jerseys were launched and distributed by Thongam Biswajit, MLA of Thongju AC, in a ceremony attended by the club’s management officials, coaching staff, and players.
Speaking at the event, MLA Biswajit lauded the State's athletes, particularly footballers, for their dominant presence on the National stage.
"India’s sporting map is incomplete without Manipur," Biswajit stated, attributing the State's continuous success to a distinct genetic advantage that firmly establishes Manipur as a sports powerhouse.
Highlighting the unique power of sports, he emphasized its role in bridging societal divides, resolving differences, and fostering unity.
He also shed light on various State government welfare schemes and policies specifically designed to support young, meritorious, and world-class athletes.
Reflecting on his personal, lifelong engagement with sports, Biswajit urged the public to embrace the local sporting movement. He noted that widespread participation in sports is crucial to building a robust society and effectively combating the regional drug menace.
Concluding his address, the MLA extended his best wishes to the squad, encouraging them to deliver their best performance in the fourth-tier national tournament and secure a promotion to I-League 2 for the upcoming season.
