Uzbekistan plans to establish a specialized training and assessment center for microelectronics, mechatronics and integrated circuit design in cooperation with Malaysia’s Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC), the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction announced.
The center will operate under the ministry’s Qualification Assessment Centers and provide vocational education and training for specialists in high-demand technological fields.
Citizens will be able to use the “Professional Voucher” system to improve their technical knowledge and practical skills and obtain qualifications sought by employers.
Founded in 1989, PSDC specializes in training professionals for the electronics, microelectronics, semiconductor and automation industries. Its industry partners include international companies such as Intel, AMD, Bosch, Renesas and OSRAM.
In April 2026, Uzbekistan also held talks with Malaysia’s Mimos Holding Sdn Bhd on semiconductor workforce development. The discussions covered an integrated circuit design training program, including seminars held at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent with Malaysian specialists, as well as plans to improve educational programs and train qualified professionals for the industry.
