Entering Week 6, pressure for the New Orleans Saints mounted after their owner, Gayle Benson, called out the team and its staff for how the season has gone. This happened after the Saints’ embarrassing losses to the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings, and Benson’s words made their Week 6 matchup against the New York Giants a must-win.
After an incredible 3rd quarter, the New Orleans Saints looked poised to win, but after a complete collapse, the Giants nearly won. This late breakdown, even with the win, hasn’t changed opinions on head coach Kellen Moore, who is in a near worst-case scenario.
Saints Fans Call for Changes To Be Made, Specifically Head Coach Kellen Moore
The Saints started the season well, nearly beating the Detroit Lions and defeating the Baltimore Ravens, but it fell apart after that. Moore’s seat began to get hot because of confusing in-game decisions, roster moves (or lack thereof), an inability to adjust in games, and, worst of all, consistent unpreparedness. These were all issues last season in Moore’s first year in New Orleans, so with things not changing, Saints fans called for his job.
Once Benson made her comments, everyone knew Moore’s seat was hot, and the Giants game was a must-win, especially with the Paris game next week. They got the win, but after taking out the starters early in the fourth quarter and up by 24 points, the Saints nearly blew the lead and won by only 7.
It was an embarrassing end to the game, and even though the Saints looked good at times today, fans remained firm in their desire for a coaching change.

One fan spoke about the collapse, claiming the Saints tried to lose the game: “We tried our hardest to lose that damn game.”
One fan went a step further, wanting everyone to be fired after that close win, “IDC (I don’t care) that we won. Fire every single coach. NO WAY WE SHOULD HAVE HAD TO SWEAT THAT OUT.”
Despite the victory, one fan wanted Moore to be fired as soon as possible, “Kellen Moore has to be fired immediately”.
One Saints fan expressed how they feel like the Saints lost, eventhough they won, “We may have won but it sure didn’t feel like it”.

Another Saints fan felt like this game was a loss instead of a win, and even said that the finish took joy away, “We literally gave the game back… Taking away joy of a win… just to get out of there by a score. 17 unanswered points mane… Got a win feeling like a L #Saints”
After the win, one fan wondered whether a head coach could be fired: “Is it still possible to fire the head coach despite the win?”
One fan couldn’t believe that the Saints almost lost this game, “Y’all almost blew a 24-point lead in the 4th Quarter.”
Another fan said this win didn’t feel like a win and noted that the Saints somehow made J.J. McCarthy, the former Vikings QB who finished 34th in PFN’s QB Impact Metric last season, look good.
The New Orleans Saints were expected to win this game, even with their early-season struggles, and early in the fourth quarter, it seemed Moore was able to relieve some of the pressure surrounding him. By the end of the fourth quarter, his hot seat may have gotten even hotter, which is dangerous going into Week 7.
