Fabrizio Romano has confirmed some major news, and it could mean a new arrival for Liverpool.
The next transfer window is just around the corner now. There are only two and a half months left until the chaos begins all over in January.
Naturally at this point clubs will already be making plans in terms of what they want to do in the window. Liverpool will likely be at the forefront of those preparations.
That's largely because they didn't do an awful lot in the January window. It felt like most of Liverpool's major issues went unaddressed during Richard Hughes' final window in charge.
Now Liverpool are under a new direction. 1892 Holdings have become a majority minority stakeholder and Amit Bhatia is expected to play an executive role at the club.
Julian Ward has become Liverpool's sporting director and he will be taking the Reds in a new direction.
Liverpool's major need to buy a midfielder
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest issues the club made over the course of the summer was to not bring in a midfielder.
We're already seeing the diabolical results of what Liverpool have done by not replacing Curtis Jones in the squad. The Reds have ended up in a situation where Ryan Gravenberch is suspended and Dominik Szoboszlai remains a doubt for the trip to Brentford at the weekend.
It means Trey Nyoni is expected to start alongside Alexis Mac Allister. If either of them are injured? Well Iraola's options are James McConnell and Wataru Endo.
This used to be a Premier League winning squad. But now the Reds' depth is extremely weak and it needs to be looked at in the winter.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool could now sign Alex Scott in major twist
A player who has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield has been Alex Scott. The England international has been scouted by the Reds since his Bristol City days.
He's also worked under Iraola for several years, with the Spaniard getting the best out of him.
And on top of that, Scott kinda of exemplifies everything that Iraola wants from his midfielders. He presses with great intensity, covers a lot of ground and recovers the ball well - all the while being able to release the ball quickly.
Now Romano has taken to Twitter to confirm that there has been a change in Bournemouth's plans. Previously, they did not want to sell Scott in January.
However, Romano claims that Scott is now available in January and Liverpool could sign him. Chelsea are also interested. It all depends on who is willing to pay the £100m transfer fee.
