INCHEON — Gachon University Gil Medical Center will share its clinical expertise in radiation cancer treatment with doctors in Korea and abroad through a partnership with a global cancer treatment equipment maker.
The hospital said on the 16th that it is launching a "Reference Site" cooperation program with Varian Medical Systems Korea, establishing a hub for education and research in radiation oncology. The two sides recently held a signing ceremony at a conference room in the hospital's Women's Cancer Center, attended by Gil Medical Center Director Kim Woo-kyung and Varian Medical Systems Korea Chief Executive Han Hee-chul. Varian Medical Systems is a U.S.-headquartered maker of radiation cancer treatment equipment.
Under the agreement, Gil Medical Center will serve as an education hub, sharing the clinical experience and operating know-how it has accumulated in radiation therapy with medical professionals at home and abroad. Through on-site visit programs, the hospital plans to present actual clinical treatment cases alongside facility tours and academic discussions.
The hospital said the program aims to promote academic exchange among medical professionals and advance clinical capabilities in radiation therapy, building a patient-centered cancer treatment environment.
"We will broadly share our clinical expertise in radiation therapy with medical professionals in Korea and abroad and continue academic exchange to provide patients with a safer treatment environment," said Kim Woo-kyung, director of Gachon University Gil Medical Center.
