KUALA PILAH: A 39-year-old driver caught on camera driving dangerously and causing a five-vehicle pile-up at Km25 Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah here today tested positive for drugs.
Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the car was travelling from Kuala Pilah towards Seremban during the 7.45am incident.
"Investigations revealed that the suspect drove dangerously and rear-ended a Modenas Kriss motorcycle.
"However, the driver failed to stop and continued driving recklessly before crashing into a bridge wall on the left side of the road at a bend," he said in a statement today.
Earlier, a 58-second video went viral showing the Honda City being driven dangerously near Tanjung Ipoh, causing an accident involving five vehicles.
Alzafny said the collision caused the Honda City to spin and stop horizontally across the middle of the road.
"A Proton Exora multi-purpose vehicle, a Honda CRV sports utility vehicle and a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle travelling along the stretch were unable to avoid the car and crashed into it.
"As a result of the crash, the Honda City driver broke his arm, while the motorcyclist suffered minor injuries. The occupants of the other vehicles were unhurt," he said.
He said a urine test conducted at Kuala Pilah Hospital found the Honda City driver positive for methamphetamine.
"A search of the vehicle also led to the discovery of a plastic packet containing a transparent white powder believed to be ketamine," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 44(1a) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
