Jeremy Sochan has found a new home.
Sochan was selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 G-League Draft by the Texas Legends earlier today. The Legends, the G-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, are the 2022 Top 10 draft pick’s fourth franchise over the last year.
Jeremy Sochan will be the No. 1 pick of the G League Draft, sources told @hoopshype. Sochan will join the Dallas Mavericks’ affiliate, Texas Legends, and attempt to work his way back to the NBA. He’s averaged 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in four seasons with the Spurs and Knicks. https://t.co/Yv3cEicO3b

Jeremy Sochan Looking For Another Chance
The Portland Trail Blazers waived Sochan on October 17. Sochan, who played for the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks last season, signed with the Trail Blazers in early August to compete for the team’s final roster spot. But the Blazers ultimately chose to leave the spot open,
Sochan played well in his limited time with Portland this preseason. The 23-year-old forward compiled 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11 minutes with shooting splits of 49.6/24.4/73.1. He scored at least six points in three of his four outings.
The Spurs drafted Sochan with the 9th overall pick in the 2022 draft after one season at Baylor. The 6-8 forward was a major part of the Spurs rotation in his first season. But he saw his role reduced last season as the Spurs upgraded their talent.
Sochan saw action in 28 games, though he averaged just 12 minutes a contest for the Spurs last season before being waived. A few days after being waived by the Spurs, Sochan hooked up with the Knicks, who had an open roster spot. He saw limited time with the Knicks, including 26 minutes in eight postseason appearances.
Sochan is a versatile defender with a high motor capable of guarding 3-5. Sochan is a strong rebounder and secondary playmaker who excels in transition. However, he is very limited offensively in the half-court and struggles shooting from beyond the arc.
Oklahoma City Waives Otega Oweh
The Oklahoma City Thunder have released Otega Oweh from his two-way contract as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during the preseason.

Oweh was selected with the No. 41 pick in this year’s draft and signed a two-way deal with the Thunder a few days after the draft. The Thunder acquired the 23-year-old on day two of the draft from Miami for Ryan Conwell, the No. 37 pick.
Oweh struggled shooting the ball during the Summer League. However, Oweh appeared in all four exhibition games and showed some of his all-around ability, posting a double-double against Atlanta. He averaged 6.8 points on 40% shooting from the field and 5.0 rebounds in 24 minutes over four games before suffering an Achilles injury against the Pacers.
The Thunder replace Otega Oweh with Micah Peavy

The Thunder agreed to a two-way contract with Micah Peavy on Friday. So, it made sense with Oweh out for the season and his contract non-guaranteed for them to replace him. The Memphis Grizzlies waived Peavy on Monday after losing out in a competition for a spot on their final roster. The Grizzlies acquired Peavy and Jordan Hawkins from the Memphis Grizzlies for Taj Gibson and A.J. Johnson.
Peavy played two preseason games with Memphis. The 25-year-old tallied 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, five assists and two steals. He averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals with 47.1/50.0/1.000/
Peavy spent all of last season with the New Orleans Pelicans after they acquired the No. 40 pick in 2025 from the Washington Wizards. While Peavy struggled to shoot, he scored in double figures 8 times in 61 games, topping 20 points twice.
Peavy is a multi-positional wing defender with high motor skills. But his shooting is a big question mark.

The Last Word on 2022 Top 10 NBA Draft Pick Finds New Landing Spot
Sochan is headed to a rebuilding Mavericks organization that is 1-2 on the season and dealing with several injuries. Kyrie Irving, Cooper Flagg, Caleb Martin,Tarik Biberovic, Santi Aldama and Dereck Lively II are the injured players. So, while Sochan has to prove he is still an NBA player with the Legends, he is in an ideal spot to get another chance, as the Mavs are projected to struggle this entire season.
Unfortunately, Oweh suffered a season-ending injury, but it made sense that the Thunder felt the need to replace him, as it is a long season since his contract is non-guaranteed and doesn’t count against the cap.
Peavy is a strong fit for the Thunder, as he is a defense-centric wing with upside and just the type of prospect that general manager Sam Presti likes. He joins Josh Dix and Brooks Barnhizer.
