Arsenal strengthened their Premier League title bid on Saturday with a convincing 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners made a fast start, taking the lead in the seventh minute when Ezri Konsa reacted quickest to a loose ball following an Arsenal corner and fired home.
Mikel Arteta’s side maintained control for much of the first half, creating several opportunities to extend their advantage as Everton struggled to establish any sustained attacking threat.
Everton came close to finding a way back into the game, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya stood firm, denying Thierno Barry to preserve his side’s lead.
Arsenal continued to dominate after the restart and doubled their advantage in the 69th minute. Gabriel Magalhães rose highest at the back post to head home Ben White’s cross.
Everton failed to produce a meaningful response as Arsenal comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to secure three points and another clean sheet.
The victory moved Arsenal level on points with Manchester City, who suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Aston Villa earlier on Saturday.
Arsenal have now won seven of their opening eight Premier League matches, further strengthening their position among the leading title contenders.
