The agency said on the 21st that it had reassigned A to a non-investigative department in line with relevant rules. It plans to take further action after confirming the facts through the results of a fact-finding inquiry. The agency also urged its staff the previous day to maintain service discipline and uphold strict standards of public conduct.
The investigator is known to have received gift certificates worth 100,000 won from a company under investigation while working in the fair trade investigation division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (now the Seoul Central District Public Prosecution Agency), and is under internal review for a possible violation of the anti-graft law. A was recently appointed as an investigator and team leader at the Seoul agency and had been handling a corporate collusion case, according to sources.
"We will continue to fulfill our responsibility as an investigative agency that the public can trust through strict service management," the agency said.
