So much went wrong for the Philadelphia Phillies last season across the organization that it's almost hard to keep up with.
While the focus was on the big-league roster, the farm system had many other problems as well. At the top of that list was young infielder Aidan Miller, who dealt with a back injury for nearly the entire year.
There was hope that over the next year or so, Miller would have a chance to make his big-league debut and contribute to this roster. Instead, he was out with that back injury and is really just getting into the swing of things right now in the Arizona Fall League.
While the back injury will be in people's minds until he plays a healthy season, there have been some promising signs in what he's been able to do in Arizona.
Frankly, his health is the bigger priority, though according to the latest report, it remains uncertain what the Phillies plan to do with him when they make major league roster decisions next spring.
“Aidan Miller, the Phillies’ top position player prospect, spent nearly all of the season out with a back injury. He’s enjoying a strong run in the Arizona Fall League, but it’s likely still too early to determine whether and how he will factor into the Phillies’ 2027 plans,” Charlotte Varnes wrote.
I don't mind bringing up a guy like Miller and seeing what he does next season, but a lot of this depends on what the Phillies decide to do in the offseason. If Philadelphia wants to be in a position to win a World Series, it'll likely have to make some impressive moves during the offseason.
Miller can definitely be a factor, but there's an argument that he isn't ready yet to contribute to the big-league club, especially if those injuries become an issue.
