Aurangabad, October 5: Air-India which works in close collaboration with the Government’s tourist offices abroad in promoting tourist traffic to India would shortly extend this arrangement to Australia and the Far East, the Managing Director, Mr. K.K. Unni, said here yesterday.
Mr. Unni, who is here in connection with the inauguration of the “Operation Aurangabad” scheme designed to put the Ajanta- Ellora-Aurangabad-Daulatabad complex on the world tourism map, told Samachar that this was being done following the success of such joint operations in the U.S., the U.K., and Europe, which had led to a significant inflow of tourist traffic from those countries.
Mr. Unni said that Air-India, as one of the co-sponsors of “Operation Aurangabad”, considered this a unique example of a very practical purposeful, pragmatic and professional approach to the task of developing tourism in a region which was full of archaeological and cultural treasures. Sufficient infra-structure had been built here in the shape of a convenient air service linking two of the most important aerial gateways to India, Delhi and Bombay, he said.
