Taylor Lewan is rooting for Arch Manning, but watching the Texas quarterback against Oklahoma still left him wondering how many opportunities the Longhorns were going to waste.
The former Pro Bowl offensive tackle voiced that frustration on “Bussin’ With The Boys,” where the conversation turned toward Manning’s supporting cast, costly decisions, and what Texas should expect from its quarterback.
Taylor Lewan Wants More From Arch Manning
Lewan made his admiration for the Manning family clear before getting into the football. That affection also explained why watching Arch struggle was particularly difficult.
“I want this kid to be successful,”Lewan said. “But some of the things, like, bro, how many more weapons do you need?”
The question followed a discussion of missed opportunities against Oklahoma, including plays when receivers were available and Texas failed to capitalize. Lewan’s frustration centered on how much help Manning has around him and the expectation that those resources should produce more consistent offense.
Texas certainly found some big plays. Manning threw touchdown passes to Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo and Jermaine Bishop Jr., with Coleman finishing as the Longhorns’ leading receiver with 110 yards.

Those moments helped Texas build a 17–7 halftime advantage. Oklahoma eventually won 27–24, handing the Longhorns their first loss and placing Manning’s fourth-quarter mistakes under the microscope.
Lewan’s comments join a growing discussion about the standards being applied to Manning. Stephen A. Smith also argued that the quarterbackcannot be “babied” as Texas works through its offensive problems.
For Lewan, wanting Manning to succeed leaves plenty of room to question the plays that are holding him back.

Oklahoma’s Comeback Raises the Stakes for Texas
Manning finished the rivalry game with 260 passing yards and three touchdowns. Manning’s 78.0 PFN QB Impact Grade ranks #58 in the league.
He also threw two interceptions, including one Peyton Bowen returned for a touchdown and another late turnover that gave Oklahoma its chance to win.
The Sooners finished that opportunity with Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal as time expired. Texas had surrendered 17 fourth-quarter points after entering the final period ahead 17–10.
That finish explains why a three-touchdown performance could still generate such a frustrated response. Manning delivered scoring throws to three different receivers, then gave Oklahoma opportunities it used to take the game away.
The podcast discussion also turned toward the upcoming Florida matchup and whether another uneven passing performance would intensify questions about Texas’ quarterback situation. The possibility of considering KJ Lacey came up during that debate, though it was speculation about what Texas should consider.
Lewan’s central expectation was more immediate. Texas has players capable of turning opportunities into touchdowns. Manning needs to find them consistently and avoid the decisions that give an opponent another possession.
