Kosovo Police removed a banner reading “Students Are Winning” in Laplje Selo on Thursday evening, Radio Kim reported.
Police had initially stopped its installation earlier in the day, then withdrew before returning to remove it shortly after 6 p.m. A billboard featuring Nenad Rasic and his party's insignia remained at the site.
Igor Jovanovic of the Freedom, Justice and Survival party confirmed that his party had financed the banner in support of the Student List contesting Serbia's October 25 parliamentary elections. Kosovo Police have previously said campaigning for Serbian elections is not permitted in Kosovo.
The Serbian List, the main Belgrade-backed Serb party in Kosovo, accused Prime Minister Albin Kurti of supporting the student movement in Serbia through Rasic's party. Police were also present near another banner on a building in Karadjordjeva Street but had not taken action there, Radio Kim reported.
