Capstone School celebrates creativity, culture with Autumn Fest

Chümoukedima, October 17 (MExN): Capstone School in Thilixu Village, Chümoukedima, held its first-ever Autumn Fest on October 16. The event featured musical and dance performances, a science exhibition, poetry recitation, a traditional war cry presentation and a Taekwondo demonstration by students, a press release received here stated. Speaking on the occasion, Hetoka Achumi, Administrator of Capstone School, said the initiative was inspired by the desire to celebrate nature's beauty, promote creativity and provide students opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.“The fest aims to bring students, teachers and parents together as one community and encourage children to showcase their talents, abilities and creativity. It is also an opportunity for them to express themselves, build confidence and create wonderful memories,” Achumi said.Parents, students and visitors explore food and beverage stalls during Capstone School’s first-ever Autumn Fest at Thilixu Village, Chümoukedima on October 16.  A key highlight of the programme was the science exhibition, featuring projects by students, which encouraged scientific curiosity and hands-on learning beyond the classroom. The event also featured a traditional war cry presentation by students from Grades 1 and 2, adding a cultural dimension to the celebration.The formal session included a welcome note by Vipelo Shohe and Alina Zhimo, a prayer by Ms. Kivitoli B. Zhimo, a welcome address by Achumi, and a scripture reading by Kilini Zhimomi. Hosted by Phijing Wangnao, the session concluded with a prayer song by Chonglung M Aventh of UKG A.Emphasising the importance of such initiatives, the Administrator said, “We believe that education is not limited to textbooks and examinations but should also allow children to learn beyond the classroom. Such celebrations help develop confidence, teamwork, social skills and creativity.”He expressed hope that the event would leave students, parents, school staff and other attendees with a sense of joy, gratitude and togetherness, while reinforcing the importance of education as a journey of discovery, experience and personal growth beyond the classroom.
