The Reds made a winning start to their European season some five weeks ago, as they dispatched Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Anfield.
They were made to come from behind in that match after Marcos Llorente opened the scoring early on, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister both striking on either side of half-time to secure all three points.
Despite having to fly out to Linz for this match, LASK should present slightly more straightforward opposition.
Die Schwarz-Weißen currently sit third in the Austrian Bundesliga, behind Rapid Wien and RB Salzburg.
They took a circuitous route into this tournament, pulling off a dramatic comeback over Martin O’Neill’s Celtic in their final qualifying match before suffering a frustrating 1-0 defeat away at AEK Athens in their first league phase outing.
LASK’s chances of victory will be boosted slightly by the absences of some eight Liverpool players, with Andoni Iraola unable to call on the likes of Alexander Isak, Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo.
