SUNGAI PETANI: A man is feared drowned after falling into a river at Kampung Padang Sekawan, Bukit Selambau, Kedah.
Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said the department received information about the incident at 6.18pm.
He led the operation involving 10 firefighters.
"The man's family said the 38-year-old local man was believed to have fallen into the river from a bridge.
"So far, only a pair of slippers has been found at the scene," he said when contacted.
Zulkhairi said three police personnel also joined the operation.
The search was suspended for the night due to weather conditions, darkness and strong currents. It will resume tomorrow, he said.
