The fake text messages were sent with "SOS" as the sender, and claim that no one was home during a visit to notify them of a death. The person alleged to have died is also identified by name and personal identity number.
"This is an incredibly distasteful and disgusting act that SOS Alarm strongly condemns. The police are investigating these messages, and we urge anyone who receives a similar text message to report it to the police immediately," says Anders Fredriksson of SOS Alarm in a press release.
It is unclear how many people have received the fake messages.
