Manchester United have had many players from across the globe.
Despite their huge popularity in North America, it has been a somewhat underused region of the world for attracting players.
For clarity, this article considers North America as Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Whilst Owen Hargreaves and Jimmy Nicholl were both born in Canada, they represented England and Northern Ireland internationally.
1) Javier Hernandez
The Mexican goalscorer is the all-time leader for his country with 52 goals.
He joined United in 2010 and won two Premier League titles, making a huge impact as a super-sub who often scored late, vital goals for the Red Devils.
Chicharito, as he was known, finally left the club in 2015 to join Bayer Leverkusen.
2) Tim Howard
The American-born keeper joined United in 2003.
Howard showed glimpses of his talent at Old Trafford but could never really nail down a first-team place.
His fate was sealed when Edwin van der Sar joined the club in 2005.
Nonetheless, he would go on to have an excellent Premier League career at Everton, playing 414 times and even scoring a goal.
3) Jim Brown
Brown was born in Scotland but represented the United States national team four times.
He also scored a goal in the first-ever World Cup in 1930 against the eventual champions, Uruguay.
Brown played for United between 1930 and 1932.
4) Jonathan Spector
The defender came through the United academy but struggled to get many first-team opportunities during a time of great success for the club.
He would enjoy a relatively good career in England, playing five seasons for West Ham and six for Birmingham City.
5) Ed McIlvenny
McIlvenny only played twice for United between 1950 and 1953 but he did make a big impression on English football.
The Scottish-born player captained the USA during their 1950 World Cup victory over England.
