Most-wanted gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria changed their identities and obtained fake passports to evade arrest while operating from abroad, with fresh details released by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealing how the two sought to stay off law enforcement's radar before their arrest in the United States on October 22.
According to exclusive details accessed by India Today, both the gangsters, who are wanted in several criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder and extortion, registered in Delhi and Haryana, used false identities to conceal their real names and evade arrest.
Himanshu Bhau obtained a passport under the name Himanshu Sigroha, while Neeraj Faridpuria used the name Neeraj Kaushik. India Today has also learnt that Faridpuria moved from Portugal to the United States in the final months of 2025.
The operation to apprehend the two was carried out with assistance from ICE. Both gangsters are currently being held at the Henderson County Detention Center in Nevada, US.
India Today was the first to report that the two had been apprehended in the United States. Haryana Special Task Force (STF) is in touch with US authorities and central agencies to secure their deportation to India.
Earlier, in August 2023, an Interpol Red Notice was issued against Bhau at the request of Indian law enforcement agencies. He has also featured on the wanted lists of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi Police and Haryana Police. At the time, police said he was wanted in 18 cases.
A Red Notice seeks assistance from law enforcement agencies across member countries to locate a wanted person and facilitate provisional arrest pending extradition or similar legal proceedings. It is not an international arrest warrant, and any action against the individual is subject to the laws of the country where they are found.
WHO IS HIMANSHU BHAU?
Haryana gangster Himanshu Bhau, whose real name is Himanshu Ritoliya, is among India’s most-wanted fugitives and is a rival of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
A native of Haryana’s Rohtak, Bhau is accused of running a criminal network across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab while operating from abroad.
Born in 2002, Bhau entered the world of crime as a teenager and escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in 2020 along with other inmates.
Police have since linked him to cases involving murder, attempted murder, extortion, illegal weapons and criminal conspiracy, alleging that he coordinated operations in India through associates while staying overseas.
Bhau and his associates have been linked to several high-profile crimes, including the killing at a Burger King outlet in Delhi. His gang has also been accused of targeting businesspersons through shootings and threats to extort money.
The network came under scrutiny in 2022 after three murders were reported in Haryana within 24 hours, with investigators suspecting that armed associates had carried out targeted attacks.
More recently, members of the gang were investigated in connection with the killing of a property dealer in outer Delhi.
Bhau is reportedly associated with the Neeraj Bawana gang and has been involved in a violent rivalry with the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar network.
WHO IS NEERAJ FARIDPURIA?
Neeraj Faridpuria, a resident of Haryana’s Palwal district, was living in the US when he was arrested. More than 25 criminal cases have been registered against him.
Haryana Police arrested Faridpuria following an encounter in 2012. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case in 2015, but the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted him bail in 2019.
His name later surfaced in the June 2019 murder of Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary in Faridabad. Following the killing, Faridpuria fled to Canada via Dubai, where he was reportedly given charge of the Bambiha gang, a rival of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
He subsequently moved to the US, where he was operating alongside the Himanshu Bhau gang. Faridpuria had also claimed responsibility for the firing outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence.
