PETALING JAYA: National mixed doubles shuttlers Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing scored their third stunning win at the Denmark Open to move into the semi-finals of the World Tour Super 750 championships.
The 51st-ranked Malaysian professional pair, who started partnering in June, defeated Japan's 18th-ranked Akira Koga-Natsu Saito 21-15, 24-22 in 44 minutes at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense.
Pang Ron-Pei Jing showed that their victories over higher-ranked pairs in all their three matches so far were no fluke, as they won in straight games.
This is the second World Tour Super 750 semi-final appearance for the Malaysian pair after the China Open last month, where they ended as runners-up.
Pang Ron-Pei Jing can anticipate an uphill battle in the semi-final as they are drawn to meet China’s world No 1 pair Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping or 7th-ranked Ye Hong Wei-Nicole Gonzales Chan from Taiwan.
