The New York Giants continue to face questions about their running back rotation as they search for consistency on offense. Cam Skattebo’s recent struggles have added to those concerns after his costly fumble against the Washington Commanders in NFL Week 5.
Skattebo fumbled with just under two minutes left in overtime, losing possession at Washington’s 24-yard line while the Giants were in position to attempt a game-winning field goal.
Now, the Giants are making another change to their backfield, with Najee Harris the latest running back involved in the shakeup.

His time with the Chargers ended early after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Week 3 of the 2025 season. He then joined New York to provide a veteran presence in the backfield.
Cam Skattebo’s struggles add pressure to Giants’ backfield
The Giants gave Harris a larger role against the New Orleans Saints, while Skattebo played just six offensive snaps without recording a touch.
Head coach John Harbaugh has emphasized the need for the team’s running backs to earn their touches. However, the Giants have not established a consistently productive rushing attack, leaving the rotation open to further changes.
Harris’ reported release would create another opening among the team’s running backs. Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary and Skattebo remain options as New York looks to improve its production on the ground.
