Members of the BJP Belagavi City and North Divisions alleged that there were discrepancies in the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise conducted in Belagavi city. They complained to Mohammad Roshan, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, seeking an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls of the Belagavi North Assembly constituency.
They alleged that over 8,000 voters were included in the electoral rolls, despite objections raised about their deaths, relocation, duplicate entries or registrations lacking proper documentation.
According to them, there were over 263 entries from a single property, City Title Survey (CTS) number 2438, in polling booths 212, 213, 214 and 215. However, they were marked as 127 sub-numbers.
Also, for the house bearing CTS number 2438, the entries were distributed across four polling booths, with 205 names listed in booth 212, 20 names in booth 213, 34 names in booth 214, and four names in booth 215. They questioned how the electors were linked to the same property number across multiple polling booths. They sought verification of these inclusions.
Leaders like former MLA Anil Benake, advocate M.B. Zirli, Mahantesh Vakkund and others were present.
