Need an excuse to get out of work early tomorrow to attend the Oct. 23 Milwaukee Bucks home opener?
Don't worry, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson has it handled for you.
The mayor shared a clever letter on his social media accounts Oct. 22, encouraging Milwaukee bosses, teachers and parents to excuse Bucks and Brewers fans from their obligations for an important day in Milwaukee sports.
"Milwaukee, we've got some important business to take care of tomorrow," the mayor wrote in the post. "With the Bucks tipping off 3 p.m. and the Brewers in the World Series, I figured you might need a little helping hand getting out of work or school early. Consider this your official (unofficial) excuse from the Mayor!"
The Milwaukee Bucks also co-signed the mayor's message on social media, encouraging fans to "Clock out. Tip off. Cheer on!"
In the letter, Johnson encouraged employers, teachers and parents to allow some flexibility in Friday's schedules so Milwaukee residents could cheer on both hometown teams.
"The meeting can be rescheduled. The homework can get done later," Johnson wrote in the letter.
The Bucks will face the Chicago Bulls at Fiserv Forum at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 after moving their home opener from 7 p.m. to not conflict with the Brewers' first World Series appearance since 1982.
The Brewers will face the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the World Series at American Family Field at 7 p.m.
While editors said Journal Sentinel reporters can't take advantage of the mayor's get-out-of-work excuse, the rest of the public can try their luck at getting out early to cheer on Milwaukee's hometown teams.

Of course, Johnson noted that the final decision is still up to your boss, teacher or parent.
