APC Northern Youth and Women, Tinubu/Shettima 2027, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the performance, constituency engagement and public impact of his appointees.
The group led by, Comrade Ibrahim Idris Katsina, gave a breakdown of proposals to newsmen at a press conference in Kano on Friday, saying the President cannot be everywhere at the same time, but appointees should be accountable.
“There are growing concerns, however, that some appointees have become increasingly detached from these responsibilities.
“In some cases, party members and grassroots stakeholders complain that individuals who benefited from appointments have become difficult to access after assuming office.
“In other cases, constituents feel that the appointment has produced little visible engagement with their concerns.
“This creates an unfortunate situation in which an individual may occupy an important government position while the people who associate that individual with their constituency or political environment feel neglected,” he stated.
He explained that public appointments must translate into service to the people, responsiveness to constituents, and effective support for government policies.
“Our concern today is therefore straightforward: Political appointments should not become positions from which individuals become disconnected from the people, their constituents, party members and the communities that look to them for representation and engagement.
“We believe that the best foundation for continued public support is not merely political mobilisation, but measurable performance, effective communication, accountability and tangible improvement in the lives of Nigerians,” he added.
