(ANSA) - ROME, 15 OTT - Pope Leo XIV had a good night in Rome's Gemelli hospital, the Vatican said on Thursday after the 71-year-old American pontiff had surgery to remove a malign tumour from his right lung on Tuesday.
"The Pope had a good night in the hospital, got up and had breakfast," the Holy See Press Office said.
The Vatican said Wednesday that Leo was doing well and was in good spirits, adding that he had undergone respiratory physiotherapy, was walking around his room and had resumed a regular diet.
"His recovery is proceeding as expected," Vatican Press Office Director Matteo Bruni told reporters while presenting the medical bulletin. (ANSA).
