ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has delegated primary decision-making authority to its parliamentary party, bypassing its political and core committees, ARY News reported, citing sources.
Sources revealed that the decision was taken after the party suffered setbacks, including the loss of its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), as a result of decisions previously made by the political and core committees.
Under the new directive, the party has resolved that all major policy decisions will now be made exclusively by elected members of parliament.
The PTI parliamentary group will be led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
Sources added that the party has also decided not to wait any longer for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial leadership’s “Plans B and C.”
Furthermore, the parliamentary party is set to map out the PTI’s next strategic roadmap during its meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 27.
Vital decisions are expected during the session regarding steps to secure access to jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, address matters concerning his medical treatment, and push for the release of detained female party leaders.
