The Amicus curiae in the case before the Kerala High Court concerning the proper upkeep of the Thevara-Perandoor Canal and other waterbodies in the city to address waterlogging visited the P&T Apartment Complex at Mundamveli on Monday (October 12).
The court had directed amicus curiae Govind Padmanabhan to visit the apartment complex following media reports highlighting its pitiable condition and several letters submitted to the court on the matter. He was accompanied by the Revenue Divisional Officer and officials of the Greater Cochin Development Authority.
P&T Apartment Complex Protest Committee president Abhilash P. Parameswaran took the Amicus Curiae through the apartment complex and explained the numerous problems faced by residents, including leakage from toilets. Mr. Padmanabhan is likely to submit a report to the court on Friday (October 16), when the case is scheduled to come up for consideration again.
The case dates back to 2018. The court had intervened in the past when the rehabilitation of P&T Colony residents living along the banks of the Thevara-Perandoor Canal was delayed as the issue formed part of the larger concern regarding proper maintenance of the canal.
