Former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has suggested that President Bola Tinubu deploy his ministers to their respective home states to mobilise grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ahmad said the ministers should engage directly with residents and communicate the achievements, policies and vision of Tinubu’s administration.
He made the suggestion in a post on X on Tuesday, urging each minister to take responsibility for building stronger support for the president in their home state.
According to Ahmad, the ministers should organise town hall meetings and engage with citizens as part of efforts to strengthen Tinubu’s support base ahead of the elections.
He wrote: “I strongly believe that President Bola Tinubu should consider deploying his cabinet members back to their respective states to intensify grassroots engagement, interact directly with the electorate and properly communicate the achievements, policies and vision of his administration.
“Every minister should take responsibility for building stronger support for the president in their home state through town hall meetings and direct engagement with citizens.
“Let every minister win his or her state for the president.”
