Water has been released from the Ganekal reservoir into the downstream areas of Raichur city to prioritise drinking water supply and support standing crops, according to Basanagouda Daddal, Raichur Rural MLA.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Daddal said water is being discharged through canals 99A, 100, 102, and 102A. This strategic release is expected to ease drinking water scarcity for residents while ensuring much-needed irrigation for tail-end farmlands to protect current crops.
The legislator directed officials to exercise strict vigilance to prevent any disruption in the drinking water supply. He also emphasised the importance of optimal water management to facilitate smooth agricultural operations.
”Ensuring the availability of drinking water for the public and meeting the irrigation requirements of farmers remain our highest priorities,” Mr. Daddal said. He instructed officials to continuously monitor water flow and distribution, while enforcing necessary precautionary measures for efficient resource management.
