Benton is set to conclude its regular season when it takes on Midland Empire Conference rival Chillicothe on Friday evening in St. Joseph.
The Cardinals (4-4) took down Cameron 49-28 at home last Friday to put them at four wins for the first time since 2016. The victory was the culmination of an emotional evening for Benton football. Before the game Sparks Field was rededicated to honor the 50th anniversary of the passing of Jimmy Sparks.
The Benton offense has had consecutive weeks in which it has scored a season-high point total. The 49 points scored against the Dragons exceeded last weeks 35-point output against Excelsior Springs by 14.
For Cole, the key to the offense finding its footing down the stretch has been efficiency.
Chillicothe (4-4) is entering Friday night's game in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Last Friday the Hornets fell to Moberly 41-26, the most points they have allowed all season.
