Bank Windhoek and the Evangelical Lutheran Church signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to provide financial education, wellness, support and banking solutions to more than 1 200 Elcin employees and their families.
The agreement also strengthens commercial banking support for the church’s parishes, subsidiaries and member organisations across Namibia.
Bank Windhoek’s Financial Director, Zenaune Kamberipa, said the partnership will focus on financial well-being, literacy and greater inclusion.
“Bank Windhoek will provide financial expertise, service channels and dedicated business support to help qualifying employees and Elcin entities access appropriate solutions,” Kamberipa said.
Financial wellness coaching and advisory services will equip participants to understand their finances, budget wisely, manage debt, protect their assets and plan confidently for the future.
Elcin’s general secretary, Reverend Johannes Haukifu, described the agreement as an important instrument for strengthening the church’s institutional capacity.
“However, the value of an agreement is not determined by its signing alone, but by how faithfully and effectively it’s implemented,” said Haukifu.
Both institutions recognise that meaningful results depend on sustained collaboration and active participation.
Bank Windhoek will provide relevant financial solutions and accessible support.
Elcin’s leadership and structures, in collaboration with Bank Windhoek, will raise awareness, encourage participation and communicate the needs of employees and associated entities.
Kamberipa said that since Bank Windhoek was established 44 years ago, its guiding vision has been to be the financial partner of choice and to create sustainable value for all stakeholders.
“As a proudly Namibian bank, we help customers and communities build resilience, pursue opportunities and participate more fully in Namibia’s broader economy,” said Kamberipa.
Bank Windhoek is one of the country’s leading financial institutions, established in 1982 when local entrepreneurs acquired eight branches of Volkskas Bank. The bank is now the flagship brand of the Capricorn Group.
