Nathan Bines, who is executive director of data and AI at Queensland’s Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business, is a keen advocate of agentic AI — but only in the right context.
“To a hammer, everything is a nail,” he says, advising public servants to logically assess their needs for the right type of technology to apply.
“We were one of the first governments, absolutely in Australia, probably around the world, in terms of building a specific tool for public servants that was safe, and it got adoption.
