Rebel Wilson felt like the "most junior person" on the set of Bridesmaids.
The 46-year-old actress starred alongside Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, and Chris O'Dowd in Bridesmaids, the 2011 comedy film directed by Paul Feig, and Rebel now looks back on the movie as a turning point in her career.
Asked which of her films means the most to her, Rebel told the BBC: "Probably my first job in Hollywood, which was Bridesmaids.
"I was just a girl from Australia, and came to America with one suitcase, and then I booked this movie. It was this ensemble of incredible women – incredibly talented comedians, improvisers and actresses. I felt I was the most junior person on that set, and I got to come in and experience what a big Hollywood comedy is."
Rebel admitted that the movie changed her career fortunes.
The actress - who has subsequently starred in Isn't It Romantic, The Hustle and Jojo Rabbit - said: "To me, getting that shot to just let loose and improvise with [director] Paul Feig and [producer] Judd Apatow and the gang was awesome."
Rebel previously revealed that she "made no money" on Bridesmaids.
The actress explained that she made just $3,500 from the hit movie.
She said on the Diary of a CEO podcast: "It was my first job in America.
"I mean, it was very lucky to get it … But to be paid that little. Basically, that $3,500 I then had to pay to the union to join the union. So I basically made no money.
"I lost money, because I had to pay to go to the premiere, like to buy my dress and everything. So, I lost money doing Bridesmaids."
Rebel was living on a meagre budget before she found fame and success in Hollywood.
The actress - who was born in Sydney, Australia - shared: "That was a really skint year where I was living on $60 a week in L.A. once I’d paid my rent and my car hire.
"I wasn’t partying or living this [movie star] life. It was basically having that focus, trying to write for myself, going to auditions."
