Nentawe Yilwatda
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed suggestions that the ruling party is worried about the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or other opposition groups ahead of the 2027 general election.
Yilwatda stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he discussed the APC’s readiness for the forthcoming polls and the strength of its potential challengers.
The party chairman maintained that the APC was confident in its electoral prospects and was not intimidated by the activities of opposition parties.
He also defended President Bola Tinubu’s performance, describing him as a better option than former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar when asked to compare the two political figures.
Yilwatda’s comments come amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition parties and political blocs explore strategies to challenge the ruling party.
The APC chairman also addressed the possibility of opposition alliances, insisting that the ruling party was prepared for the contest. He said the party had conducted polls that showed Tinubu leading across states.
His remarks underscore the APC’s confidence as political parties begin positioning themselves for the next presidential election.
The 2027 election is expected to be a major political contest, with the APC seeking to retain the presidency while opposition parties work to strengthen their chances of unseating the ruling party.
