WOOSTER — Triway linebacker/wide receiver Wilson James had a sequence in the second quarter against Orrville that summed up the Titans' performance on both sides of the ball.
On a dropback from Orrville quarterback Mark Lorson, Triway sent a full rush and getting to him first was James, who laid a hit on Lorson, forcing a fumble that the Titans recovered. Two plays later, James took off on a jet sweep and went down the sideline for a touchdown. That extended the Titans lead to 35 points.
That's how convincing Triway was in the first half and through the entire game as the Titans (9-1, 5-1) dropped Orrville (7-3, 4-2) 42-3 at home in the final week of the regular season to claim its second-consecutive Principal Athletic Conference title.
The Titans took a 42-0 lead into halftime as the entire second half featured a running clock.
"It was definitely up there with our best halves," James said. "We've had some really good halves against Wooster and Tuslaw. Our defense came out and shut them out. Our offense took off. We were running well, which is nice. Passing was there, if we needed it. We didn't need it tonight."
Orrville head coach Brent Besancon said it best after the game.
"We ran into a really good football team," he said.
James was right.
