Roberto De Zerbi defended Tottenham’s medical staff, despite his squad continuing to suffer from a long injury list.
Spurs have several players in the treatment room at present, including summer signings Sávio and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Speaking ahead of their clash against London rivals Chelsea, De Zerbi insisted injuries were a part of football and it is not the fault of anyone in particular.
“I’m convinced our medical staff this season is high level. I follow them, I believe them, I have big confidence because I know how they are working hard and I think they are good enough.
“I can say the last six games we have had many, many injuries, but the focus was totally different.
“If we speak about Pedro Porro’s injuries. He played in the World Cup, and he it. Maybe he didn’t recover enough to start the season, without the pre-season, he already suffered a hamstring problem in the World Cup.

“Then he felt it in a training session because he pushed to come back, and he suffered another injury, but what is the responsibility of the medical staff?
“Or Bergvall, in the first minute against Manchester United in a tackle, he turned his knee and the day after the game he felt pain. What is the responsibility of the medical staff? Nothing.
“Robertson played four games in a row in the national team, every three days he played. After that he felt a small problem before Manchester United. He didn’t play; we did not take risks with him.
“He played 60-65 minutes against Coventry very well, especially in the first half he played very well. but it was fatigue. Normal fatigue for one player who played six games in 15 or 20 days.
“So far I don’t think we can say anything bad about the medical staff.”
