Hilary Swank is once again at the center of the conversation, and not exactly because of her career. The actress, a two-time Oscar winner, announced on October 14 that she is expecting her third child at 52. She did so with a video on Instagram alongside her husband, businessman Philip Schneider, and the couple’s twins, Aya and Ohm.
The star of ‘Million Dollar Baby’ became a mother for the first time in April 2023, at 48 years old. Now, to the excitement over the new arrival, expected in December, have been added the comments from those who question her becoming a mother again at her age.

Swank wanted to respond in an interview on Drew Barrymore's show, which will air on October 20. In a preview, the actress points out that women receive a lot of criticism for having children at an older age, something that does not happen with men. “Men have babies at 80 and nothing is said,” she adds.
A criticism that concealed a wound
During the talk, she recalled what happened to her during her first pregnancy, when a stranger reproached her for being too old to have children. That woman told her that her father, her favorite person, had died when she was just over twenty years old, implying that Swank’s children might lose her too soon.
Far from being offended, the actress put herself in her place and understood that the comment stemmed from a painful experience. Even so, she maintains that other people's pain should not determine others' decisions. Barrymore, a mother of two daughters, agreed that it is strange for women to be judged while men become fathers at much older ages with hardly any criticism. On other occasions, Swank has said that age has made her more patient.
