Justin Herbert. You know, the quarterback so many Vikings fans want? Yeah, the guy putting up some of the worst numbers in the NFL this season. That’s the guy.
If you’re on X/Twitter during an NFL Sunday, there’s a pretty high likelihood of seeing at least a handful of posts about how the Vikings should trade for Herbert, who is sinking to the bottom of the league with the 0-5 Los Angeles Chargers.
Who would want that guy? Well, if Kyler Murray doesn’t work out for the Vikings, they should put a full-court press on Herbert during the offseason. That said, it’s a lot easier said than done and would require patience while carrying significant risk.
Anyone analyzing Herbert can probably throw his miserable start to this season out with the trash. His track record makes him very attractive. From 2020 through 2025, Herbert threw for 163 touchdowns and 58 interceptions. Rockstar stuff, to be certain.
But this season, he’s been awful, with five touchdown passes and seven interceptions. His 59.4% completion rate is nearly six points lower than his previous low of 65.1% in 2023.
Herbert is literally dead last in the NFL in EPA/play, and his passing grade from Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranks 39th among 40 quarterbacks who have played at least two games. He leads the NFL with 13 turnover-worthy passes, per PFF.
