INDIANAPOLIS --- During halftime of Sunday's AFC South clash against the Tennessee Titans, the Colts inducted their newest member into the franchise's Ring of Honor: Adam Vinatieri.
"It's unbelievable seeing my name up in the stadium," Vinatieri said following his induction. "For all these years I looked up there and saw the people that were up there and what they meant to this community and to football in general; just to have the honor of being up there with all the other guys, it's pretty incredible."
After coming over from New England in 2006, Vinatieri spent 14 seasons in Indianapolis as the organization's steady and consistent placekicker. In 2007, he was part of the Colts' Super Bowl team, and in 2014 he was named a First-Team All-Pro in addition to getting a Pro Bowl nod.
When Vinatieri retired in 2021, there wasn't a whole lot he hadn't accomplished. Not only did he retire as the all-time leading scorer for the Colts' franchise, but also as the NFL's all-time leading scorer; a record he still holds with 2,673 career points. Vinatieri was inducted into the NFL's Hall of Fame in Canton in August.
In his post-induction availability, Vinatieri made note of what the organization, his teammates and the Indianapolis community as a whole has meant to himself and his family.
"I've said it a hundred times but those guys are as much my brothers as any blood-brother that I have," he said of his former teammates. When he talked about how the community and Colts' fans embraced him, he expressed a similar warm sentiment.
"I love them all," Vinatieri said of the Colts' faithful. "We chose to be part of Hoosier nation, you know, and I truly love everything about Indy."
The induction of Vinatieri is the first change to the Colts' Ring of Honor since the late Jim Irsay was inducted last year, and is the first player since his former teammate Dallas Clark in 2024. Here's a full list of all the Colts' inductees since 2015:
